After over 20 years as a successful business consultant, Alfred has finally retired and is in now available ​to dedicate his time and energy to this new challenge. Over the years, there have been multiple individuals that have encouraged him to serve in this capacity and now the opportunity may be right for him to do so. The voters will decide.

A Personal Glimpse into Alfred Unger
Alfred and his wife Diane, just celebrated their 49th anniversary. Together they have three married sons and one granddaughter. They moved to Sylvan Lake in January 2022 and have fallen in love with this community.

Alfred grew up on a farm in Southern Alberta, and pursued a varied business career since leaving the farm. This has included time in construction, truck driving, and even short stint in the mining industry.
He settled into his career as a business safety consultant and worked with both small and large corporations, with a focus on efficiency, productivity and safe operations, in one case, saving millions of dollars per year for one major client.

He has served as the board chair of a condominium corporation for the past 15 years, and has led them from their initial distressing financial situation, to the healthy well-run organization they are today.
​
He has also coordinated and led multiple philanthropic house building trips to Mexico for 12 years.
​
His personal interests include photography, music, writing and travel. These have given him opportunities to perform with a Southern Gospel Quartet for 7 years, and publish his writings in a book called "Highways, Ditches, and Dirt Roads".
